Clonakilty Kindergarten – Community run playschool….where young minds thrive

Clonakilty Kindergarten is a natural playschool for children aged 2 years, 8 months to 6 years. The Kindergarten provides loving, natural and family orientated childcare to the community and has been guided by the Steiner ethos since its foundation in 2002. The word Kindergarten literally means ‘children’s garden’ and encompasses a warm protective environment similar to that at home.

Based in Lady’s Cross in Clonakilty, the Kindergarten has its own award-winning garden*, vegetable beds, play area, willow den hideout, salvaged boat, sandpit and woodland area.

Sharing meals together, baking, painting, taking care of the guinea pigs, singing songs in circle time, drawing pictures for and celebrating birthdays all foster a sense of social interaction and support. Click here to find out what happens on a daily session.

The Kindergarten is a true environment to play and discover for both children and their parents/guardians. We foster a strong connection to community and the parents/guardians have a crucial role to play, as well as the staff of course.
